FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event where engineers of all backgrounds and skill levels come together to solve problems by using technology.

Participants form groups and create projects that tackle these challenges, all while attending workshops to develop new skills, receiving mentorship from industry leaders, and networking with recruiters from top companies.

Do I have to come to the workshops before the Hackathon?

No. Each workshop and event is designed to be independent, however we'd love for you to come to as many as you can!

Who's organizing BlockHack?

BlockHack is organized by developers, for developers. The Hacking Club at the University of Delaware also provides a lot of support.

Is there a theme?

Anything on a Blockchain goes. Come ready to build projects with impact!

Sounds cool. So, can I come?

Absolutely. BlockHack is open to everyone. Whether you're just getting into DLT, or you've been mining Bitcoin since 2010, there's something for you here! We'll also provide resources before and during the event to help sharpen your skills!

We've also made arrangements to let attendants stay overnight.

Will there be food?

There will be food. Lots of food. LOTS. We’ll do our best to accommodate for any dietary restriction as well, just make sure to let us know come registration time.

Can I get a ticket at the door?

No, everyone must signup before the event. This helps us get an accurate count of attendants so we order enough food.

Do I need to already have a group?

Nope. You can go solo, come with your own team (no more than 4), or participate in a group mixer we'll have before hacking begins to find a group.

This sounds expensive. Can I afford it?

The event is entirely FREE for students.
General Tickets are ONLY $10 (+6.70 fees)!

Will there be travel reimbursement?

As much as we'd love to bring everyone and make this event as accessible as possible, sadly we can't offer financial reimbursement for travel this year.

Alright, I'm hyped for BlockHack! How do I register?

Right now, you can fill out the form below to stay up to date with the latest information, including notifications when tickets are available April 1st.

How can I or my company become a sponsor?

What if I'm driving?

Let us know if you're driving, and we'll make sure you get a parking pass. We've got a garage right next to the event in Trabant
